After his successful free show in Lilongwe recently, where he pulled a huge audience, Tay Grin’s next stop is Blantyre.
The musician will hold a free show at Upper Stadium Saturday.
The show is part of his countrywide awards celebration tour.
Tay Grin said the shows are a platform for him to appreciate the support he gets from his fans and the music industry.
“Opportunities for breakthrough are rare for young artists. Therefore, as a deeper way of giving back to the music community, I have chosen to give upcoming artists a chance to share the stage [with me] and get in the spotlight,” he said.
He added: “Blantyre is where I started my music career and I haven’t had an outdoor event in ages. I am especially excited about this ‘homecoming’ show of epic proportions. It’s going to be fire and extremely packed. We are going to have a great setup.
He assured people that there would be tight security and called on everyone to come and be part of the show.
“Let’s celebrate and make history together,” the musician said.
The musician will hold arts workshops a day before every show and, in Blantyre, it will be hosted at Jacaranda Cultural Centre.
The workshops have been organised so that Tay Grin and other professional artists can interact with young artists who are participating in the concert. It is also aimed at sharing knowledge on the ins and outs of the music industry.
According to the musician, of the hundreds of applications received via WhatsApp, 44 were selected to perform in Lilongwe while 48 have been selected to perform in Blantyre. The Blantyre show will be graced by Amos Chinangwa, Aka Riffle Dynamics, who also registered for Lilongwe show.
