Tay Grin off to Ireland, United Kingdom

After his performances in United States of America, Iceland and South Africa recently, Tay Grin has more assignments on his table.

This time around, he is set to perform in Ireland and England.

The ‘Chipapapa’ star left Tuesday for Ireland.

“I am excited to fly Malawi’s flag outside once again. My fans in Ireland and England should expect nothing but fireworks,” said the award-winning artist.

Tay Grin said he wants to do more this year and that performances outside the country were on his menu.

“It’s fire everywhere, our music has to be known all over. Performances in Ireland and England are part of the world tour which has seen me performing in Iceland and South Africa as well as United States of America,” he said.

Tay Grin, well-known as Nyau King, got a perfect send-off when on Saturday he was recognised by elders in his home village in Mponela, Dowa.

The chiefs in Mponela are promoting safe motherhood and they organised nyau dances where they confirmed Tay Grin as Nyau King.

The musician said he will continue promoting culture through his music.

“It feels good to be Malawian and I am proud of it. I am humbled by the gesture by the elders,” he said.

The artist said he came back to Malawi after his exploits in United States of America, Iceland and South Africa for a breather as well as complete a number of projects.

He started the world tour last month.

In his previous outings, apart from the performances, Tay Grin – as ambassador for HeForShe –also raised money for girls in the country that will be used to buy reusable sanitary pads.

Meanwhile, Tay Grin has added another international artist to a list of musicians he has collaborated with.

The artist has done a song with Nigeria’s Ric Hassani titled ‘Mama’ which also features beat maker Sonyezo.

Among others, Tay Grin has collaborated with Buffalo Souljah (Zimbabwe), Gal Level (Namibia), DJ Waxxy (Nigeria), Sway (UK), Brick & Lace (Jamaica), Naeto C (Nigeria), Ice Prince (Nigeria), 2face (Nigeria), Wahu (Kenya) and Nameless (Kenya).

The others are Double HP (South Africa), Lira (South Africa), Scar (Botswana), Petersen (Zambia), Kmillian (Zambia), Vee (Botswana), Stagga (Botswana), Hamoba (Zambia), Slap Dee (Zambia), DA Les and Ishmael (South Africa), Orezi (Nigeria) and Vanessa Mdee (Tanzania).
