Tay Grin’s ‘Chipapapa’ video out

Hip hop artist Tay Grin real name Limbani Kalilani has finally released a music video of his single ‘Chipapapa,’ which he collaborated with renowned Nigerian artist 2Baba formerly known as 2Face.

The musician said on Wednesday that he was excited that the music video was now out.

“I want to thank God for my talent and success. Now that I have released this music video I pray that God guides it further to reach greater heights and to achieve greater things for our industry and country,” said the ‘2 by 2’ star.

He added:

“My love for music and culture is my contribution to my nation. I pray that people see the power that lies in believing, hard work and perseverance through any obstacles life throws your way. This is just the beginning.”

Tay Grin said he was doing everything possible to have the music video on Channel O, MTV and Trace.

“As I said 2016 is a great year for Malawi, more videos will come out and the next single titled ‘Kanda,’ will be out in two weeks,” he said.

Since dropping the music video on Tuesday, it had received over 8,000 views as of yesterday.

The music video has the quality with exciting scenery and the artist with his Nyau trademark has also made sure he does not skip Nyau dancers in the song.

Tay Grin has received criticism from some quarters who have said he has lost out of ideas by picking lyrics from folktale songs.

But others have defended him saying he had done well to revisit the folktale songs some of which were being forgotten.

According to Tay Grin, the video was shot by South Africa’s production company, Pilot Films, and has focused on a well-blended fusion of Malawi and Nigerian culture.

‘Chipapapa’ was produced by DJ Sley and came out on February 5, 2016.

Tay Grin has said he will drop an album by the end of this year.

Currently he has two albums to his credit namely Proudly African and Nyau King.
