Ted Nandolo ignorant of role in government
The deposed Blantyre City Council (BCC) Chief Executive Officer Ted Nandolo says he is not aware of his new position within the government system as there is no communication on the issue.
Last month the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development confirmed Alfred Chanza as the Chief Executive Officer replacing Nandolo, who was suspended in March last year for allegedly implementing salary increments without following required procedures.
Nandolo, who had been the council boss since 2011, was cleared of any wrong doing.
In an interview on Sunday, Nandolo said he could not say anything on what the hiring of Chanza meant and his next workplace as he was blank on any new developments.
“I have not been communicated about that and I cannot say anything. You better ask the ministry to explain but for me, I don’t know anything about that. I am just waiting for ministry. My issue was already resolved but I haven’t heard anything. I was cleared but these other developments I have no idea, I think you ask them so that they clarify,” Nandolo said.
The ministry spokesperson Muhlabase Mughogho said everything was done and all procedures were followed and there are no issues.
“I can confirm that the ministry confirmed Dr Chanza as the Chief Executive Officer. For Mr Nandolo, he was cleared and I think he was transferred to another department. But for any details about that you can ask him. His issue was being handled by the OPC [Office of the President and Cabinet]” Mughogho said.
Minister of Local Government and Rural Development told the media immediately after the hiring of Chanza that Nandolo has been deployed to Malawi Gaming Board as one of the directors.
