Temwa outshines Tabitha again

Malawi women’s national football team striker Temwa Chawinga was on the winning side again as her club Wuhan defeated her elder sister Tabitha’s side, Jiang Sunning, 1-0 in the second round opener on Monday.
The two sisters were up against each other for a second time this year but the youngster, Temwa, earned bragging rights against her elder sister for the second consecutive time.
Wuhan top the standings with three points from one game whereas the de f ending champions Sunning have a point.
Temwa said she was excited with her teams’ start to the second round.
“It feels great to start with a win and we hope to finish the season in style. It is a still a long way but we will engage an extra gear so that we win the league,” she said.
Temwa moved to China from Swedish side Kvarnvedens early this year and has made a bright start to her life in Chinese Women’s Super League having scored six goals.
In reaction, Tabitha said it was too early to panic but said they lost to a good side.
“ I t was one of the toughest games. We did everything but it was not our day,” she added.
Tabitha has struggled to hit top form this season and looks set to miss out on the Golden Boot Award as she is trailing Zambian Barbara Banda by seven goals.
Tabitha has scored seven goals whereas Barbra has 14 goals in her debut season in China.
