Teveta rolls out K2.8 billion project

Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training Authority (Teveta) has started rolling out a US$5 million (K2.8 billion) four year project aimed at training 4, 000 youth in the country in various skills.

Teveta Head of Corporate Affairs, Lewis Msasa, disclosed this during at a cocktail reception organised by the authority for members of Nyika Media Club in Mzuzu.

Msasa said the project has been funded by World Bank and has four components through which 4, 000 youth will be trained while 250 master craftsmen will also be supported with capacity building initiatives.

We’ll buy equipment for them [master craftsmen] to enable them provide informal apprenticeship training at their workplaces across the country,” said Msasa.

Speaking on behalf of Nyika Media Club, one of the members Deogratias Mmana thanked Teveta for organising the interactive meeting which, he said, has helped journalists get a better understanding of technical and vocational training issues.
