Thakor Sanjay, Makini win MTL golf
Thakor Sanjay underlined his credentials when he emerged champion of MTL G o l f Tournament held at Lilongwe Golf Club on Saturday.
The tournament was played under individual stableford and it attracted a field of over 100 golfers.
Sanjay won his second consecutive tournament after winning National Bank golf tournament at the same venue last week.
He posted a score of 38 points to win the tournament.
Sanjay was followed by Chris Mpanga who amassed a total of 37 points whereas M. Master finished third with 36 points.
Thando Sibindi came fourth with 36 points. Zambia deputy High Commissioner to Malawi Henry Ngilazi finished on position five after accumulating 35 points.
In the ladies’ category, S. Makini was crowned champion when she posted 37 points and she was followed by Regina Mwanza on 33 points. E. Mvula and Mariee Cho came third and fourth respectively.
Justice Ken Manda won the men’s nearest to pin accolade whereas Mwanza won the longest drive in the ladies’ category.
Ngilazi also won the men’s longest drive. Each winner received a trophy and fabulous prizes courtesy of MTL.
In his victory speech, Sanjay said it was a deserving victory after playing a good round of golf.
“I think I did well. It’s a sweet victory for me and I thank MTL for organising the tournament in Lilongwe,” Sanjay said.
Speaking during the prize presentation, MTL Chief Commercial Officer Gladson Kuyeri said the tournament was organised to interact with their customers, among other things, after holding successful competitions in Blantyre and Mzuzu.
“It was a wonderful and successful tournament. We believe that golf is one of the good platforms to interact with our customers and also communicate about business,” he said.
