Seasoned golfer Thando Sibindi had all the reasons to walk one shoulder high after winning Protea Hotel Ball pool at Lilongwe Golf Club on Wednesday.
Sibindi finished the tournament on first position with 24 points.
Sibindi, who was rewarded with a night for two in a deluxe room, said he was excited to win the tournament.
“I thank Protea Hotel for organising the tournament. I played one of my best golf and I knew that I would make it,” Sibindi said.
In the ladies’ category, Jochebed Mpanga emerged the champion followed by Fortune Lee.
Mpanga said she was happy to bounce back with the win.
“I missed some of the tournaments because I was busy with other commitments. But it feels great to be back with a win,” she said.
Protea Hotel Sales and Marketing Executive, Florentine Kabefu, said they organised the tournament as part of the hotel’s sales drive in the capital city.
“We are on sales’ drive in Lilongwe from May 21 to 25 and the golf tournament was one of the initiatives meant to interact with clients. We believe that golf offers a good platform for interaction with our customers and the sharing of ideas,” Kabefu said.
A total of 61 golfers took part in the competition.
