The logic Bullets supporters can’t see

The mess that has been going on at Nyasa Big Bullets Football Club and has been dominating the back pages of our local dailies needs to be put to rest.

There has been a protracted war of words between Bullets supporters and trustees on issues bordering on main executive committee elections.

Supporters are against the idea that the positions of general secretary and treasurer be abolished and instead be replaced by that of chief executive officer and accountant respectively.

The trustees also proposed that only three positions of chairperson, vice chairperson and publicity secretary be contested at the forthcoming elective general assembly.

What baffles me is the insistence of the supporters committee to hold elections for all the positions when the interest of the trustees is clear that the club should be commercialised.

It is ridiculous that a big club like Bullets should be run by people who are volunteers and have no proper qualifications.

Positions of the general secretary/chief executive officer and accountant are very crucial to the running of the club and should not be compromised.

There is no way these positions will be run with riff-ruffs who do not care about transparency and accountability and they have no clue on how to run the affairs of a company like Bullets.

Bullets supporters need to come to their senses before it is too late. It is chaotic and sad to have all the trustees resigning en masse on issues that are being articulated in simple and straight-forward language. It is indeed frustrating.

Anywhere else in the world, clubs are going commercial and it is ridiculous that Bullets supporters should deliberately ignore this because they have hidden agendas.

We have seen true and dedicated Bullets supporters such as Raphael Nasimba, Shaolin Mangani, Isaac White, the late Kadewere, and there was one popularly known as General Noriega, the late. I have never seen them creating such confusion in the team let alone staying on the turnstiles during matches.

These were the supporters who illuminated the team.

These were the true sons of Bullets and they wished the team well, unlike what we are experiencing today when the club is staggering in the darkness and its supporters are refusing to see light.

The attitude being demonstrated by Bullets supporters will eventually exact a huge price that will be difficult to bear.

They will not be forgiven for committing such an atrocity because this team will be thrown back into doldrums.
