Malawi National Netball Team’s new players have vowed to impress during the African Netball Championship which throws off on Saturday in Uganda.
The Queens have Juliet Sambo, Wezzie Mzemba- Msiska, Colleta Mwalilino and Alinafe Kamwala gunning to make their debuts in the absence of six regulars who are not with the team.
Mwawi Kumwenda, Caroline Mtukule-Ngwira, Grace Mwafulirwa-Mhango, Towera Vinkhumbo- Nyirenda, Takondwa Lwazi and Sindie Simtowe- Msowoya failed to travel with the team on various grounds.
Speaking from the East African country where the team arrived on Monday, one of the newcomers, Sambo, said it was time to prove that they can deliver.
“This is the chance we have all been waiting for. I am confident that as new players, we will deliver to help our team shine,” said the Blue Eagles goalkeeper-cum-defender.
Sambo also hailed the Griffin Saenda-led technical panel for being supportive.
On her part, Mzemba-Msiska, called for support from fellow players and the entire nation for them to lift the cup.
“Every netballer dreams about playing for the Queens and this is our time. We hope our colleagues who have been there will continue supporting us. We also call upon the nation to solidly rally behind us,” she said.
Queens Captain Joana Kachilika, called on the quartet to utilise the opportunity and prove their prowess.
