United States of America (USA) vocal group The Temptations is expected to jet in the country today ahead of their concert at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe on Saturday.

Chief Executive Officer for Africa Global Travel and Tours, the company which has initiated the group’s coming to Malawi, Francis Muleso, said yesterday that The Temptations were in South Africa and that they would be arriving in the country today without fail.

“They are here in South Africa. They just did an interview just now on Metro FM. They are landing in Malawi tomorrow (today),” Muleso said.

Asked why the group’s tour dates do not have any schedule for Malawi, Muleso, said: “Be at the airport tomorrow [today] at 3:15pm. They will be landing”.

Africa Global Travel and Tours said recently that they were delighted to host The Temptations and that bringing them was one way of the company’s way of appreciating and rewarding their clients for faithfully supporting the brand since it opened its doors in 2016.

“People should come in large numbers and they should expect a good concert,” Muleso said yesterday.

Spokesperson for the event, Mphatso Chaluluka, said all was set for the concert and that they were happy that people were buying tickets.

He said they had completed everything on the ground and that they were ready to give people a treat.

“The group is in South Africa right now so people should not have doubts. We have sorted out the issue of accommodation as well as equipment which we have managed to get from Mibawa,” Chaluluka said.

He said the group will perform live with Afro Stars which is based in South Africa.

“In South Africa they had to undergo massive rehearsals with Afro Stars Band. They arrive on August 29 (today) and then would be engaged in other activities in the country on August 30 (tomorrow) before the performance on August 31 (Saturday),” Chaluluka said.

Chaluluka also said Patience Namadingo is the only curtainraise for the concert.

The concert whose tickets are already on sale would cost K30,000 for regular and K50,000 for VIP.

The Temptations are one of the most successful groups in music history, having enjoyed unequalled success with a series of chart-topping hits such as ‘Soul to Soul’, ‘My Girl’, ‘I can’t Get Next to You’, and ‘Papa was a Rollin Stone’
