A two act play by Mwezi Arts titled The Zoo Story will be staged again this coming Saturday at Madsoc Theatre in Lilongwe following public demand.

Madsoc Theatre Manager Hazel Musochera Mambo said yesterday that after premiering the play last weekend, the production will hit the stage again.

“The premiere was massive and so, due to public demand, we are having it again this coming Saturday with the last show on June 19. This is a chance for those who missed the premiere to sample the production,” Mambo said.

After a long break due to Covid, Madsoc Theatre opened its doors in March and has since premiered three productions.

The latest, The Zoo Story, is a two-hander whereas the previous productions – Once an Actress and Dirt —were one-act plays.

Mambo said in The Zoo Story, Desire Mtawali and Alice Leaper performed their hearts out and gave the audience a memorable theatre experience.

“It is an amazing and all-time story beautifully crafted and complimented by the evident talent the two actresses possess,” she said.

Mambo said having been on a long break, they are trying to give people more in terms of theatre by introducing to them one-act or two act plays.

“With Covid, we feel having one-act or two-act plays is convenient for now. We will continue to follow the necessary precautionary measures,” she said.
