Be Forward Wanderers on-field leader, Joseph Kamwendo, was left shocked yesterday morning after discovering that thieves had broken into his car where they stole various items including a computer box.
The incident happened at his residence in Chigumula Township, Blantyre, on Tuesday night.
A dejected Kamwendo said the thieves found their way into the Nissan Tiida and stole items such as the car’s battery and its radio.
He described the incident as disturbing since the thieves targeted his car only when other cars within the compound were left untouched.
“This is not normal. I am on my way to report to the police but this is unfortunate. I am wondering why this has happened to my car only,” Kamwendo said.
Wanderers Team Manager, Steve Madeira, described the development as a setback as Kamwendo prepares to lead his teammates in a TNM Super League match against Mzuni at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday.
Madeira said this may affect the performance of their captain in the match as his mind will not be settled.
“I talked to him on the phone and he is depressed. But I have encouraged him to be brave as such things happen. As a team, we are with him and we will give him our support. He was supposed to report for training and we will be looking forward to his coming” Madeira said.
The former Orlando Pirates star scored a beauty when Wanderers came from behind to beat Dwangwa United 3-2 at Balaka Ground on Sunday.
