Thunder coach for junior Queens
Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) has earmarked Thunder Queens Head Coach, Christina Mkwanda-Nsinji, for a Malawi under-20 national netball team coaching role.
Nam intends to revive the junior Queens for Region Five Games to be hosted by Botswana in December.
Mkwanda-Nsinji’s profile has been on the rise since last season when she was voted Coach of the Year in the Blantyre and Districts Netball League.
Nam General Secretary, Carol Bapu, said Mkwanda- Nsinji is one of the coaches who are helping in scouting players for the junior side.
“We will participate in the Region Five Games. This is a developmental tournament and we want to revive our youth structures. Currently, Mkwanda- Nsinji is one of the coaches who have been helping us in selecting possible youngsters to feature in the team,” she said.
Bapu said full details, including the whole junior Queens’ technical panel set up, would be announced shortly.
Mkwanda-Nsinji said she would be delighted to be part of the technical panel.
The junior Queens last participated in the regional biannual games some six years ago in Zambia, where they finished as runners-up to champions South Africa.
This means Malawi will be returning to the event after missing the last two editions.
