Thunder, Diamonds in Rainbow race
Giants Kukoma Diamonds and rivals Thunder Queens are in a cat-and-mouse chase in the Rainbow Paints Blantyre and Districts Netball League, following their comfortable wins at Blantyre Youth Centre on Sunday.
Diamonds humbled Serenity Stars 74-21 to continue leading the table with 14 points whereas Queens beat Chilomoni Sisters 60-33 to stay on second position with 12 points.
Both teams have played seven games.
Diamonds Physical Fitness Trainer, Vincent Shombwe, said they were treating all games with caution so as to defend the league.
“Each game is very important [and] so we are not underrating any side,” he said.
Thunder Coach, Christina Mkwanda-Nsinji, said they would not relent on their chase for the title.
“It is too early to declare any team champions [and] so we will still fight our battle. This is just the first-round,” she said.
In another match played on Sunday, Prison Sisters defeated Shizaella 49-31. Prison have maintained their third slot with 10 points from six games.
Giants Tigresses are on position seven with four points from five games.
Tigresses are contesting the points which were awarded to Prison following their failure to show up for a recent match.
