Thunder Queens are determined to end their eight-year title drought having started this season’s Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League strongly.

In their two opening games, Thunder have been the highest scoring team, underlining their intent to win the title.

On Tuesday, Thunder hammered Gerald Tasaukadala Sisters 123- 100 at Blantyre Youth Centre.

It was a morale-boosting win, which came after Thunder defeated Young Professionals 115-8 on Saturday.

Thunder Coach, Christina Mkwanda-Nsinji, said their strong start to the season was a reflection of their desire to win a trophy this season.

“This is just the start. We are yet to hit top form. We won’t show any mercy. We have had bad moments but this season we believe that we can make it big and win something,” she said.

Meanwhile, the league’s General Secretary, Annie Hanjahanja, has said they will continue with midweek fixtures.

“Even though we delayed to start the league due to unforeseen circumstances, we have devised a plan to fix midweek games so that we catch up with lost time,” she said.
