TIFMOUNT — I am putting myself in her shoes

Mzuzu-based musician TifMount has released a song expressing his frustrations on how Covid-19 pandemic restrictions have psychologically affected his sister.

TifMount said the new single ‘I’m Waiting for You’ is dedicated to his sister Linnly Maseko Phiri and her boyfriend Steven Gondwe whose wedding has been postponed several times this year.

“I am putting myself in her shoes. Actually, what happened is that Steven went to India to do his Master’s Degree and now he is on lockdown due to the pandemic so he can’t come home,” he said.

He added: “But, in due course Steven and Linnly got engaged and they were planning for a wedding to be done once he is here but now we are just postponing the wedding since he is still in lockdown and he was supposed to be here by now”.

TifMount described ‘I’m Waiting for You’ as a song sung in Linnly’s voice telling Steven how much “she really misses him and how she needs him back home”.

On a personal note, TifMount also bemoaned that the pandemic has affected his artistry.

“I can’t perform and go to studio to record my new songs, basically I have a project to be worked on,” he said.

He then said he was working on an album titled What Lovers Do.

“With the pandemic, I need to stay indoors to avoid being infected and being a college student as well it has affected my studies since schools have been closed for sometime,” TifMount said.

Real name Tifapi Qabaniso Phiri, the youthful artist started music in 2013 but over the years he has not been serious with it until 2019 when he dropped Hair Game Extended Playlist (EP).
