Tigresses to play in Rainbow Paints
Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League (SRNL) defending champions, Tigresses, will no longer be exempted from the leagues’ games after contributing a player to the Malawi Queens’ squad for the Fast5 Netball World Series.
Top-three teams in the region, including Tigresses, were on break after contributing more players to the senior team, which has since left for Australia.
Following the release of the final 10-member Malawi Queens’ squad, Tigresses’ skipper, Grace Mwafulirwa-Mhango, is the club’s sole member for the Fast5 team.
SRNL General Secretary, Annie Hanjahanja, said following Malawi Queens’ departure for Australia, only Thunder Queens and Kukoma Diamonds would be exempted from games.
Tigresses’ players, Sindie Simtowe-Msowoya, Catherine Yikwanga, Beatrice Mpinganjira and Lauren Ngwira, were left out of the national team’s travelling party.
Tigresses’ coach, Peace Chawinga-Kaluwa, said they were ready to return to action.
“When it comes to the rules, we are always in the know. So we are ready for any assignment that will come on our way,” she said.
