Tigresses vow to bounce back
Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League holders, Tigresses, have vowed to bounce back in their quest to retain the title for the second successive time.
Tigresses went down to rivals Kukoma Diamonds 52- 37 at Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC) last Saturday. Diamonds and Tigresses have 15 points apiece.
Today, Tigresses face Young Professionals and Shizaella in the morning and afternoon, respectively, at BYC.
Tigresses coach, Peace Chawinga-Kaluwa, said their aim is to score more baskets in order to defend the title.
“The title decider will be the game against Diamonds in the second round. We need to score more and concede less then win all our matches, including beating our rivals in the second round,” she said.
Last season, the title race was decided on baskets difference after Tigresses and Diamonds tied on points.
Diamonds assistant coach, Noel Mussa, said they will continue treating each game with caution.
“Yes, we beat our rivals but we also need to do well against the rest of the teams,” he said.
In other matches, Diamonds will entertain Gerald Tasaukadala Sisters with Thunder Queens dating Chitakale Sisters in Mulanje whereas Alliance Capital Stars face a tricky away assignment against Prison Sisters.
