Musician Tigris real name Angela Mizinga has released a single titled ‘Been A While’ which features Tay Grin.
The single which came out on Saturday is aimed at raising funds for her 13-year old cousin’s heart surgery.
Tigris, who has collaborated with a number of artists in the country, said yesterday that she decided to use the single to raise funds for her cousin, who has a swollen heart.
“Her name is Caroline of Bango Village in Nathenje. She is a granddaughter of my mother’s sister,” she said.
According to Tigris, her cousin as well as guardian are expected to travel to India.
“The hospital, Kamuzu Central, will cover costs for flights and the surgery in India but we need to raise money for her and her mother’s express passports, visas and upkeep money while there,” Tigris said.
She said the single ‘Been A While’ was being sold per download where anyone who feels like helping with the fundraiser will buy or donate any amount they feel they can help with.
“The minimum is at least K500 and for more details people can email email@example.com or call/WhatsApp my sister Mrs Kambauwa on 0999125905 or 0990828881,” Tigris said.
The E-Wallet product said people outside the country, can also send through the several platforms that are there.
“I decided to raise funds for the trip for the heart surgery through the single as this is what I am good at. This is also part of giving back to everyone who wants to help. Apart from the song, we have also set up a Gofundme page for this cause. People can also reach out through Standard Bank Account Number 9100001935051, Lilongwe Branch,” Tigris said.
She said they were looking for close to K600,000.
“More money would be very helpful and so we are hoping we will reach this target. The song basically talks about someone, who feels like God is not listening and they get to the point of giving up on prayer because they are getting no answers. They still have hope that God will come through,” Tigris said.
As part of reaching out to people Tigris had a short performance on Mikozi. She starred at Lulu’s studio with Adrian and Georgiz.
“The song was produced by Drew at SU Records, Jantas Studio,” Tigris said.
Recently she was part of the artists involved in a project by ArtGlo delving into issues of mental health by using art.
