CICM, in collaboration with Centre for Development Management (CDM), unveiled the two media platforms during the service excellence awards ceremony held in Lilongwe on Friday evening.
The development comes months after Times Tv emerged Television of the Year during 2016 Media Institute of Southern Africa (Misa) awards.
In the radio category, Times Radio is third after Zodiak Radio and Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Radio.
Times Group Editor-in- Chief George Kasakula said the performance of Times Group is a sign of confidence people have in the two platforms.
“At Times Tv, we believe in innovation. We are working hard to satisfy the general public. We are humbled. We thank the organisation for recognising our efforts. We will continue raising the bar,” Kasakula said.
He also said the performance of Times Radio in the awards is an indicator of great things to come from the innovative team at Times Group.
“Times Radio has just started. We are still making efforts to make it the best We are not there yet. We are, however, humbled to see that the efforts we are making are being recognised. We will strive to be the best,” Kasakula said.
There were other awards given in a number of sectors. Some of them are hospitality, mobile telecommunication, banking, tertiary education, security, health insurance, public sector and local authorities.
Airtel has emerged the winner in mobile telecommunication sector. MultiChoice has emerged the best in the call centre category while National Bank of Malawi is the best in the banking sector.
Ryalls Hotel has been named the best in the hospitality sector while in tertiary education, Mzuzu University has emerged the best.
Press Trust has been named the winner in the Corporate Social Responsibility sector. Blantyre City and Road Traffic Directorate are winners in local authorities sector and public sector (government departments) categories respectively. Northern Region Water Board has won public sector (state-owned enterprises) category.
Blantyre City Mayor, Noel Chalamanda, has been named Service Excellence Personality of the Year.
Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) Executive Director, Charlotte Wezi Malonda, underscored the significance of good customer service.
“Good customer service helps to build enduring customer loyalty. Excellent customer service will help reduce costs, will help achieve your strategy and will create good customer experience. And it starts with us, the leadership. As the leadership, it’s our duty to convey the philosophy of the products or service, the idea of the product or the quality of the product or service,” she said.
