Times Group shines in Airtel netball awards

As Airtel Money Netball Trophy came to an end on Saturday, Mphatso Malidadi of Times Group was named the best print journalist of the competition for a third successive year.

Another member of Times Group sports desk, Ronald Mpaso, was named the second best print journalist, followed by Solomon Manda of Nation Publications Limited.

In the electronic media category, Frank Kandu of Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) scooped the top award followed by Innocent Chitimbe of Timveni and Lucy Kadzongwe of MBC on the second and third places respectively.

Malidadi described his achievement as an encouragement.

“It’s an encouragement because it shows that people out there value our work as sports journalists. I am really humbled by the recognition and I don’t take it for granted,” he said.

All the winners received monetary prizes and miniature trophies, courtesy of Airtel Money.

In his career, Malidadi has won several awards, including the Presidential Netball Cup best journalist.
