The Times Media Group has described its new television and radio platforms as timely and meeting global trends as it strives to serve local and international markets better.

Times Media Group board chairperson Francis Pelekamoyo said this Tuesday when board members toured the company’s premises to appreciate activities at the country’s oldest media institution.

The visit came at a time Times Media Group has just acquired majority shareholding in Matindi FM radio.

Pelekamoyo said the growth of the Times Media Group has always been a product of dreaming big.

“This radio station will not be an ordinary one. When you venture into this type of synergy, you have to be prepared. We are geared to be the number one radio station in Malawi. Our growth strategy over the past five years has culminated into Times Television and now this radio station.

“At one time all of us thought it would be difficult but a strong desire has led us thus far. When we thought of television, we said we would use various skills across the three platforms,” he said.

Pelekamoyo further said the synergy is critical for Times Media Group in sustaining leadership as not only the country’s oldest media house but also as one that is moving with global trends.

When asked how the synergy will help enrich the quality of the group’s media products, Pelekamoyo said: “In these days, you need to be an all-rounder which also reduces the cost of production.”

Times Group has a history dating back to 1895.

It is the only media house in the country that operates across newspaper, television and radio platforms.
