Times’ Kambuwe wins women’s football award

Times Group sports journalist Mabvuto Kambuwe was named the best print reporter in the just-ended 2021 Fam Women’s National Championship.

Kambuwe got a miniature and K100,000 for winning the category at Civo Stadium on Sunday during the finals of the competition.

““I feel humbled. I try to give women’s football, the coverage it deserves. This is the game that has potential to put Malawi on the map,” he said.

Kambuwe said, using various platforms including print, radio, online and television, he was filing stories for all the platforms.

“I might have won the print award but I was filing stories for all the platforms as we are encouraged by our management,” he said.

MIJ sports presenter Mwakhele Kaliyande won in the radio category.

Meanwhile, Blantyre Zero has won the inaugural 2021 Fam Women’s Championship after stunning favourites DD Sunshine 3-1.
