Times Radio, a subsidiary of Times Group which also has Times Television, has clocked seven years this year.

It has been a long voyage for the radio, which has remained professional and vibrant in its programming in its quest to entertain, educate and inform the listener.

Times Group Commercial Manager Raphael Chirwa said Tuesday that it was a big achievement for Times Radio to clock seven years, hence it is celebration time.

“It is a birthday; celebration time. It is a very big achievement and milestone in the history and family of Times Group and so, we, as a business, thought it wise to celebrate the occasion.

“We want to celebrate the radio station, as an up-and-coming radio station which is almost reaching 85 percent of the market, covering 85 percent of the country with exciting programming catering across all the ages,” Chirwa said.

He said it was important for them to come out and celebrate this milestone.

“We want to celebrate with stakeholders who are from different categories, business partners, those who have been there since inception, giving us business while we are airing their adverts, promoting their products and services to their target audiences. We want to celebrate with partners, mainly the listener who has been receiving and consuming information from Times Radio,” Chirwa said.

He said, at seven years, it was worth it for them to come out in the open and celebrate the achievements of Times Radio.

Chirwa made an assurance to the listener and advertisers that the future was bright for Times Radio.

“Times Radio has serious ambitions and as we speak today, we have planted more than 11 transmitters across the country with more coming and all investment is being put to make sure that we continue to provide quality information to the listener so that they can access us with no problems but, again, be able to consume quality programming from Times Radio,” he said.

In terms of programming, Chirwa said they will keep on being innovative and creative, making sure that “we are developing and airing tailor-made programmes”.

“To us, our slogan is Nthawi Yakwana (It’s About Time) and we always make sure to live by this slogan and time is ripe that we must deliver the best. We will make sure that Times Radio becomes the best radio within the country and beyond,” Chirwa said.

The birthday celebration will see Times Radio engaging in several birthday programmes.

Times Radio started airing under Times in 2015 and some of its programmes include Hot Current, Kulinji, Nkhani Zodabwitsa, Times Talk, Sports360 and Flashback.
