Times Television (TTV), a subsidiary of Times Group which also has Times Radio, yesterday celebrated its ninth birthday at Times Entertainment Studios in Blantyre.
It has been a lengthy voyage for the award-winning television station, which remains professional and vibrant in its programming in its quest to entertain, educate and inform people.
The television’s station manager Wonder Msiska said they will continue to be innovative and give people the best, content-wise.
Msiska also hailed people for watching Times TV, saying TTV is where it is because of their immense support.
“This is part of the history of Malawi. We have come a long way and we are not stopping here. There are so many television stations in the country but to be voted number one for seven years consecutively is testimony that we are doing well,” Msiska said.
He said, ahead of birthday celebrations, they reached out to viewers.
“Some of the viewers shared their viewers on what they want to see on their favourite television station. The beauty of TTV is that we provide to everyone and our programmes touch on different spheres [of life] such as politics, agriculture, health, sports, business and entertainment,” Msiska said.
During birthday celebrations, led by presenters Yankho Seunda and Thabi Kamwangala Mwenefumbo, Blantyre Newspapers Limited General Manager Veronica Masikini cut the anniversary cake.
Apart from cake-cutting, members of Times Group management team and staff took part in games such as egg race. There was also a champagne pop up.
Comedian Mr Handsome spiced up the birthday celebrations.
TTV has won the hearts of many people with its programme, culminating in it being named the number one television station by Media Institute of Southern Africa-Malawi since the best television station award was introduced.
Apart from news, some of the programmes that the television airs include ‘Hot Current’, ‘Dziko La Mkaka ndi Uchi’, ‘Tchutchutchu’, ‘Tikudziweni’, ‘Ana Ife’, ‘Sports Arena’, ‘Business Time’, ‘Times Travel’ and ‘Infotainment’.
