TNM bails out students
TNM on Wednesday donated assorted learning materials worth K1 million to the Special Needs Section of the Blantyre Teachers’ College.
The materials include braille machines, braille papers and print toner.
Making the donation, TNM Chief Officer, Consumer Services, Dan Makata, said the gesture was a response to a call made by the college to help ease some of the challenges that special needs students face at the institution.
Makata said TNM believes in giving back to communities as part of its corporate social investment.
“As a Malawian company, TNM remains committed to working and assisting people who are our customers,” Makata said.
The donation was made through TNM Mpamba Trust.
“We are all painfully aware that government can’t do it alone t o effectively tackle the education challenges facing the nation,” he said.
Blantyre Teachers’ College officials hailed the donation, saying it will go a long way in alleviating the plight that most special needs students face at the college.
Other institutions that have benefitted from the Mpamba Trust Fund include the Majete Health Centre, Kamuzu Central Hospital, Magamba Health Centre, Kachere Rehabilitation Centre, Ntchisi District Hospital and Mdidi Primary School.
