TNM donates K1.5 million to Blantyre Press Club

Malawi’s integrated mobile network and ICT service provider, TNM, has given Blantyre Press Club K1.5 million in support of the grouping’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) to take place in Mangochi next week.

Speaking during the cheque presentation at TNM offices in Blantyre, TNM Senior Manager Consumer Services, Madalitso Jonazi, said the support is an acknowledgement of the important role journalists and media houses play in the country.

“Journalism is very important to our society and economic d envelopment in general. Journalists are the eyes and mirrors of a country as they provide objective views about the society by reporting on a wide range of socio-economic issues. TNM as a home-grown Malawian company felt duty bound to support the meeting,” he said.

Jonazi said TNM enjoys working with journalists and that the support is confirmation of the cordial working relationship that exists between the company and journalists.

“We would like to appreciate the support that TNM receives from the media. The country can only develop if we have the right information and TNM relies on journalists to convey messages of its tailor-made products and services to the general public,” he said.

In her remarks, Blantyre Press Club Executive Member, Ida Kazembe, thanked TNM for the support.

“Blantyre Press Club is very humbled with this contribution from TNM and it will go a long way to help us to hold this important meeting. We would like to appreciate the support that TNM is giving us because this is the third time that the company has come to our rescue to support the AGM which is clear demonstration that indeed TNM is always with us,” said Kazembe.

Blantyre Press Club is a grouping of journalists from the Southern Region, registered under the Trustee Incorporation Act.
