TNM pumps K2 million into Cezobal initiative
TNM has donated K2 million towards the construction of a basketball court at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
The donation follows a request from Central Zone Basketball League (Cezobal).
Cezobal has organised a fundraising tournament set for Civo Stadium on July 15 when Vice President Saulos Chilima, is expected to grace the occasion.
TNM Chief Officer– Consumer Services, Daniel Makata, said they have supported Cezobal’s initiative to contribute to the revamping of basketball.
“TNM is passionate about golf. We are into cricket, golf, football and marathons, among others. We want to support different sports codes as much as we can. So, when Cezobal requested us we felt that we should partner them in rebuilding the sport to take it to another level,” he said after making the donation at TNM’s head office in Blantyre.
Cezobal representative, Tiyese Kaimila, applauded TNM for the support.
“Basically, we are looking for K16 million for basic court. But the cost will likely increase because of other factors, including setting up stands and floodlights,” he said.
Before presenting the donation, TNM also conducted Zampira Monthly draw.
TNM Senior Manager, Enterprise Services and Sponsorships, Limbani Nsapato, said the monthly draw was a success as more entries were registered.
“For instance out of 25,122 predictions for the Nomads [Be Forward Wanderers] versus Azam Tigers’ game, 219 got it right. Out of 38,070 predictions for the month 1,051, were correct,” Nsapato said after Wanderers supporters, Patrick Funsani of Mzimba, and another fan emerged winners for the draw.
