TNM, Standard Bank in financial inclusion drive

Standard Bank on Tuesday partnered integrated mobile phone network service provider TNM in a mobile money transfer initiative.

The partnership would see an integration of the bank’s mobile money platform and TNM’s mobile money transfer service, Mpamba.


Head of TNM Mpamba, Chikhulupiliro Mphatso, said, through the partnership, the two institutions would make transactions easy.

Mphatso said TNM had put in place measures to curb and handle incidences of network problems.

“It is inevitable that, in technological setups, sometimes systems may fail. However, these are the services we have been carrying out for a long time and have got experience on both ends.


“We have also been using different user acceptance tests and we are very comfortable but if our service providers experience problems we have got customer services on both ends. Our teams are available everyday including the weekends and public holidays,” he said.

Standard Bank Head of Business Development, Ben Wandawanda, said Standard Bank was delighted to bring convenience to customers.

“It is very critical to emphasise that the customers have to keep their pins very secure and safe. Our customers come from different networks and we do have similar services with customers that are not TNM and we have received good feedback because of the convenience,” Wandawanda said.

Through the partnership, Standard Bank customers will be able to pay utility bills, airtime purchase, money transfers and account balances.
