TNM winner renovates school
One of the 50 winners in Telekoms Network Malawi (TNM)’s Ufulu @ 50 Promotion, Chawanda Banda, has renovated a school block at Chasomba Primary in Kasungu District.
The school becomes the latest beneficiary of the K2 million worth of project from the promotion.
In an interview after making a formal handover on Wednesday, Banda said he settled for the project after noticing challenges the school was facing due to lack of proper classrooms.
“On behalf of people from this community, let me commend TNM for this initiative which has not only benefited me as an individual but even the communities. It is my wish that our pupils are provided with a good learning environment for them to excel,” said Banda.
Chasomba Primary Deputy Head Teacher Samson Phiri thanked TNM for the support to the school.
“The block that TNM has renovated was in a dilapidated state and was not providing a good learning environment for our pupils but now our learners can afford a smile,” he said.
Phiri also said the school has only six classrooms against 1,000 pupils, a situation which forces some learners to learn under a tree.
TNM Regional Finance Manager, Sumaice Musamaleke, said the handover of the school block demonstrates the company’s commitment to fulfill its promises to its customers.
“This is a life-changing promotion as prizes are going to worthy causes that will change the face of our communities. The current prize presentation phase demonstrates TNM’s commitment towards corporate social responsibility and meeting its obligations under Ufulu@50 Promotion,” he said.
Banda is one of the 50 TNM customers that won a total of K100 million in the Ufulu@50 Promotion TNM conducted in 2014 to celebrate with Malawians as the country commemorated 50 years of independence.
Each of the winners was required to choose a social responsibility project worth K2 million, translating to K100 million
