The Ministry of Tourism has said the Takulandilani Expo, which starts this week, has attracted overwhelming response from industry players.

Deputy Director of Tourism Sosten Lingwalanya was speaking in Lilongwe when Castel Malawi donated K7.5 million towards the expo, which will be held on April 26 and 27.

Lingwalanya said, initially, they had planned to have 70 exhibitors but that, as at Thursday, a total of 120 local and international exhibitors had expressed interest in taking part.

“We have exhibitors coming from Zimbabwe, Zambia and Tanzania. And ,as of today, we have almost 50 international buyers. These are tour operators who package holidays wherever they are like the US, UK, Germany, Belgium and some from the Sadc region.

“So the response is quite overwhelming. Even from local exhibitors, the response is quite huge,” Lingwalanya said.

Castel Malawi Sales and Marketing Director Nelson Zoto Banda said, as producers of top Malawian brands such as Malawi Gin, Premier Brandy, Malawi Vodka and Kuche Kuche, which are enjoyed by locals and tourists, they decided to contribute towards the success of the Tourism Expo.
