Transformation Alliance (TA), which was launched last year, has appointed Leonard Chimbanga as its spokesperson.
In a letter dated October 7, 2016 signed by TA Administrative Secretary, Charles Mwambiyale, which The Daily Times has seen, the political movement says it highly values Chimbanga’s spirited passion and relentless commitment on issues of national interest.
“The Alliance notes with great admiration and appreciation your valuable contribution on issues of public interest. As a long-time advocate and subscriber of youth leadership, we believe you will use your impeccable experience and network to help transform Malawi through core objectives of the Alliance,” reads the letter in part.
In an interview, Chimbanga, who recently resigned from the United Democratic Front (UDF), said he was humbled by the appointment.
Chimbanga called on all patriotic Malawians, especially the youth, to rise and act, saying silence is no longer golden with the current political and economic hardships tormenting the poor.
“We must realise that the youth, forming the largest component of our population, are a crucial section if Malawi is to attain Africa’s 2063 targets and global goals under the sustainable framework of the 2030,” he said.
