Travelport Malawi awards travel agents
Travel commerce platform, Travelport, has said despite economic challenges prevalent in the country, Malawi’s travel industry continues to embrace technology which has helped improve travel management in the country.
Travelport, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, focuses on providing distribution, technology, payment and other solutions for the global travel and tourism industry worldwide and operates in the country as Travelport Malawi.
In an interview on Saturday night during an awards ceremony for travel agents that took place in Lilongwe, a senior official from Travelport
International, Stella Otteskov, said the company had a lot of support from its partners in 2015.
She said while celebrating its partnerships, the company continues to remind the industry about new technologies it is bringing into the country as well as its commitment and support to Malawi’s travel and tourism industry.
“We are now working closely with airlines to brand themselves Travelport so that customers and travel agents can clearly see what they are selling,” she said.
The company is also pushing for a product called Travelport Mobile Agent (TMA) which can be used through a smartphone or tablet to make bookings or get a ticket for maximum convenience and efficiency, she said.
