The seventh edition of the Deloitte Clients golf day left an indelible mark at Mbawa Country Club at Bvumbwe when renowned golfers demonstrated amazing skills on Friday.

At the end of the three-ball alliance stable format, a team of Eric Chapola, Chris Kapanga and Hilton Menne triumphed in the main competition with 85 points.

It was a rare feat after overcoming strong opposition which had shrewd golfers such as the Director of ACB Lucas Kondowe, Gabriel Kambale, Phillip Madinga, Clement Chilungulo, Kobus Louw, Nyankhoko Nsona, John Melrose and Karim Osman.

Chapola, speaking on behalf of the winners, said they had fun on the greens.

“We played as a team but we had to bail out our colleague Menne because he started badly. Otherwise it was a wonderful treat we had fun and we enjoyed,” he said.

A team of Elio Bizarro, Emmanuel Banda and Wesley Mataka finished second after they were counted out on 85 points.

Former Blantyre Sports Club golf captain, Hudson Katwanje, partnered Bob Sherriss and Clive Madzikanda to finish third with 78 points. They counted out fourth-placed Jimmy Evans and Alan Walsh.

Andrew Barron, Chadwick Mphande and Lucas Kondowe finished fifth.

In individual category, Katwanje hit the longest drive on hole number 10 while shortest drive on hole one went to Kobus Louw.

The tournament had a subsidiary event and other golfers being considered in the yellow ball competition while the prizes were also remarkable.

Deloitte managing partner, Nkondola Uka, said they organized the tournament to interact with their clients away from tight work schedule.

“As Deloitte we are a services professional firm so we have clients that provide us with business so this was one way of thanking in a sociable environment,” he said.

Uka said Deloitte offers a variety of professional services.

“As Deloitte, we are professional services firm and we offer assurance services which basically are audit services, then advisory services which are consulting as well as taxation. In addition to that, through our subsidiary tip off anonymous we offer fraud hotline where people can report fraud and unethical activities in confidential manner,” he said.
