Truck kills mother, daughter
Residents of Goliyo in Ndirande Township woke up to a tragic morning on Monday when a Nissan UD Truck belonging to Chibuku Products Limited ran over a woman and her daughter who died on the spot.
The deceased, Nesi Goshi aged 41 and her daughter Chinthenya aged five met their fate when the mother was escorting her daughter to school.
Blantyre Police assistant spokesperson, Andrew Mayawo, confirmed the incident, saying the driver, Robert Wetland, aged 38, was taken to Ndirande Police Unit for security purpose.
“We are investigating the cause of the accident and we cannot give more details. The driver is with us as we continue interrogations,” Mayawo stated.
The deceased hailed from Tombondera Village, Traditional Authority Chapananga in Chikwawa District.
