Tsar Leo nominated for Independent Music Award

Tsar Leo, one of the country’s hip hop gems, has been unveiled among the world’s most exceptional musicians nominated for this year’s Independent Music Awards (IMAs).

The IMAs is an international award programme that honours top-ranked independent artists for best songs, albums, EPs and music videos from around the globe each year.

The 21- year old rapper, and songwriter is vying for the Rap/Hip Hop Song of the Year award with The Other Side, the lead single from his Godly Position EP.

The final list of nominees was released on October 18, 2016.

The Other Side, serving as Tsar Leo’s international breakthrough having featured in different music channels across Africa, scooped enough votes from fans to get a node from the judges.

Tsar Leo described his nomination as an opportunity to promote not only his music but upcoming artists from Southern Africa to millions of music consumers in a year-long promotion, performance and distribution opportunities worldwide that the IMAs offers should he win.

“The nomination is part of my mission to put Malawi on top through my talent and music. My nomination will also open the world to appreciate the pool of talent that we have across the region,” he said.

The winners will be announced on December 12 during the Independent Music Party at Lincoln Centre for Performing Arts in New York.

The Other Side which features Zachs was jointly produced by Eril and BFB.

The song has also been nominated for the 2016 Music Video of the Year in the Urban Music Party (UMP) to be held on November 6 at BAT ground in Blantyre.

Born Leo Siwale the musician who has released a string of singles, has since revealed that his Godly Position will be available for digital downloads starting December 17.
