The Zomba first grade Magistrate’s Court has convicted and sentenced two men to 10 years imprisonment with hard labour each for robbery in the district.
The two are Nangamawa Liwamba, 46 and Alfred Nkunika, 42.
The court through the state prosecutor Sub-inspector Evelyn Dzoole said that during the night of June 15, 2022, the two were in the company of with other two accomplices, who are at large.
According to Zomba Police Station Spokesperson, Patricia Sipiliano, the two were armed at the time they invaded Lead offices in the city.
Appearing before court, they both pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against them.
In mitigation, both convicts asked the court to exercise leniency, saying they are bread winners to their families.
But Magistrate Taziona Munthali observed to settle for a 10-year-sentence for the convicted two men.
