Forbes Africa has just released its latest ‘30 under 30’ List which features two Malawians for their innovative businesses. Mwai Kampesi and Mike Chilewe Junior are among entrepreneurs across Africa who made the list.
Mwai Kampesi is the Chief Executive Officer of In-house Interior Designs and In-house Katundu, which is an architectural interior design consultancy firm that also provides household items.
In-house produces different household items through recycled material such as bedside lamps.
Kampesi said she was delighted to be featured in the magazine.
“When it comes to a business magazine, it doesn’t get any better than Forbes. It is an opportunity for me to spread my wings not just locally, but across the continent and beyond Africa,” Kampesi said.
The In-house founder said she looks forward to the opportunities the Forbes platform will create for her.
Founder of Chilewe Brands Global, a pan-African diversified company involved in financial services, manufacturing, agriculture commodity trading and commercial properties, Mike Chilewe Junior, said he was happy to have made the list.
“It is not an easy achievement and I thank God for it” Chilewe said.
Renowned entrepreneur and former president of Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Newton Kambala congratulated Kampesi and Chilewe Junior on their achievement and encouraged young, aspiring entrepreneurs to venture into entrepreneurship.
“Kampesi and Chilewe Junior have shown financial discipline which is important in business and they should continue if they intend on growing and crossing borders. As for young entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship is a step towards pushing the Malawian economy further while creating jobs for yourselves instead of waiting for the government to provide jobs for you,” Kambala said.
