UD Songo want Nomads’ Richard Rabson

ON THE RISE—Rabson

Be Forward Wanderers are set to lose left winger Richard Rabson as Mozambique’s UD Songo are interested in his services.

Songo were swayed by Rabson’s five-star performance against Nyasa Big Bullets in the last match of the Energem International Bonanza on Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium.

Richard was a marvel to watch as he tore apart Bullets’ defense on several occasions to engineer two of Wanderers’ three goals in the match that Bullets won 4-3.

He played direct football, taking on his opponents at will as he carried the Nomads on his shoulders.

This pleased Songo Director of Football, Claudio Tonetti, who said they wanted the versatile attacker.

“That chap! The number 8! He is so good. We want that player. We will be meeting to discuss about signing him. Our transfer window is closed at the moment but we are taking the boy in May when it reopens,” Tonetti said.

Wanderers General Secretary, Victor Maunde, said they will not stand in the player’s way once Songo come up with an offer.

“Songo have not officially contacted us but a senior official from Nyasa Big Bullets called me, asking if he could give my contacts to UD Songo officials who had requested for it.

“Richard has a three-year deal with us and we have big plans for him. But if the right offer comes, we will sit down and think over it,” Maunde said.

Former Escom United and Blantyre United star, Jimmy Chikulekule, who played for different clubs in Mozambique, said Richard can easily fit into the Mozambican league.

“Richard is both physically and tactically sound. That boy is a gem.

If it is indeed true that Songo are enquiring about his services, they will get a wonderful player. His speed and trickery on the ball can help him fit in the Mozambican league,” Chikulekule said.

Wanderers signed Richard from Southern Region Football League Premier Division side Hangover and loaned him out to Ntopwa.
