Umodzi hires 38 MIT interns
The Malawi Institute of Tourism (MIT) on Wednesday handed over 38 students to Peermont, the company that is operating Umodzi Park, for internship at the prestigious hospitality and conference facility.
Umodzi Park general manager, Neu Sewnarain, said the company intends to develop local capacity and skills for the industry.
“We discussed with the MIT to have the students so that we can practically train them here. And we will offer permanent jobs to those that will excel during their time here,” said Sewnarain.
MIT chief executive Officer, Isabel Chakumbira, thanked Umodzi Park for the internships and appealed to other players in the industry to support the institution.
MIT is a government institution under Ministry of Tourism which trains hospitality industry cadres.
