Malawi under-20 national football team Manager, Aubrey Nankhuni, has said the Junior Flames can turn the tables in their favour against Angola on Sunday.
Nankhuni made the remarks Thursday before the team’s departure for Angola ahead of Sunday’s second-leg match of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Malawi lost 1-2 to Angola in the first-leg match played at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday, but Nankhuni said the junior Flames can win in Luanda.
“We know how they play. Yes, they will enjoy home-ground advantage but we can also win as they did here. Our approach to the game will be to attack so that we can score while avoiding letting in more goals,” Nankhuni said.
Malawi progressed to meet Angola in the second-round after ousting eSwatini, formerly Swaziland, through an away-goal rule following a one-all draw.
Malawi Coach, Meke Mwase, has maintained the same squad for the away match.
Mwase said the return of Peter Banda, inclusion of Tony Biasi and Levisoni Gopani has strengthened the squad.
In the first-leg match, Chikondi Mbeta scored the consolation for the junior Flames after Angola had taken the lead through Jelson Antonio and Arilson Pereira’s goals.
