United Nations calls for inclusive elections
By Audrey Kapalamula:
United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator, Maria Jose Torres, has urged electoral stakeholders to create a conducive environment for the participation of all citizens in next year’s elections.
“We need to create an enabling environment so that everybody can have a right to vote and be voted [to positions]. Whether you’re a disabled person or woman, you have the right to vote and you have to do it without being intimidated and that will be a tremendous development for Malawi. We hope to see that happening in 2019,” she said.

The UN resident Coordinator also said promoting women participation is key to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the country.
Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Goodall Gondwe, commended the UN for their support to end poverty through SDGs.
