Award-winning rapper Suffix has collaborated with United States of America (USA) Ambassador to Malawi David Young in a remake of a popular Christmas carol ‘Jingle Bells’.
Suffix, who recently was one of the biggest winners during the fourth edition of the Maso Awards bagging Best Gospel Act and Song, said Tuesday the remake was more like a festive season present to the people.
“We created this idea following a US Embassy holiday concert at the ambassador’s residence and, so, when we were chatting about music, we agreed just to cook something we could do on the concert day,” he said.
The rapper said it was then that they invaded Nyali Music Studio in Lilongwe with Matt Alegeo.
“Matt Alegeo suggested we do a cover for ‘Jingle Bells’ and we agreed. I rap on it and he does the singing part. Matt Alegeo came up with some melodies we recorded and the ambassador liked it and he suggested we shoot a video. Few days later I called Matt of Manifest the videographer and we shot the video at Nyali Music Studios,” he said.
The video has received overwhelming response from people on social media with many describing the remix as ‘good’.
The US Ambassador has won the hearts of many people in the country for his interaction with people from all walks of life and has been engaging in different affairs as part of promoting Malawi to the world.
