US Black Legislative Caucus honours Mutharika
America’s largest black legislative caucus, the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus has passed a resolution to honour President Peter Mutharika for what it sees as his exceptionally sound leadership.
And following the move, Chairperson of the Caucus, Dee Dawkins-Haigler presented a Certificate of the Resolution to Mutharika last week Thursday.
The certificate was presented to the President at a ceremony held at the Regis Hotel in New York, where Mutharika is attending the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
It was at the same function that the UK-based African Leadership Magazine Group honoured Mutharika with the African Leadership Award and inducted him into the African Leadership Hall of Fame.
According to the Certificate of Resolution, members of the Legislative Black Caucus of Georgia General Assembly resolved to salute Mutharika for including into his cabinet a candidate he defeated, among other things.
Mutharika drafted Lands, Housing and Urban Development Minister, Atupele Muluzi, into his Cabinet following the 2014 presidential elections, which saw Mutharika emerging victorious.
The Certificate of Resolution says while recognising Mutharika’s contributions, the honour also pays homage to his illustrious academic and political careers.
The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus has a membership of 60 African American State Legislators. It is registered as an independent, non-profit, charitable organisation.
