Police in Nkhata Bay are looking for suspects who killed a 47-year-old United States of America (USA) businessperson in his house at Dambo area in the district on Friday night.
In an interview, Nkhata Bay Police spokesperson, Cecilia Mfune, identified the victim as Michael James Maglioli from Massachusetts State in the United States.
Maglioli was selling liquor and soft drinks in the district
“On the fateful night, his maid heard a knock on the door and opened the door thinking it was their usual customers. To her shock, she saw strange men who covered their faces with masks. They were armed with pangas,” Mfune said.
She said the attackers tied Maglioli with wires and killed him.
“Police, in the company of medical personnel, visited the scene. Postmortem conducted revealed that death was due to severe loss of blood following deep cuts in the head,” she said.
