Veteran actor Anyoni needs urgent medical attention

Veteran actor Elson Soko popularly known as Anyoni is in need of urgent medical attention.

The actor known for his power packed roles on MBC’s Pamajiga radio drama was diagnosed with a heart problem.

Anyoni has been sick for some time now and has been to several hospitals.

On top of the heart problem, Nyoni is also having problems urinating, eating and drinking properly.

Further, his legs have been affected by the conditions such that he cannot walk and has developed blisters and wounds.

National Theatre Association of Malawi (Ntam) President Eric Mabedi and Kwathu Drama Group veteran actress Linda Chatha visited him at his house in Machinjiri in Blantyre Wednesday.

He expressed happiness upon seeing Mabedi popularly known as Jakobo and Chatha, who has been acting with him in Pamajiga.

The visit by Mabedi and Chatha also came barely a day after MBC management cheered Anyoni at his house where they donated assorted items including money.

“The problem is the heart which cannot perform some of the functions. I am in pain but God is good, I will recover,” he said interacting with Mabedi as if it was a scene in a play.

Mabedi said he was praying for his quick recovery and called on well-wishers and the government to assist him get medical attention.

He described Anyoni as a versatile actor, who has given the country the best of his acting talent and that it was important that the nation helps him get medical attention.

Chatha said they had casted together recently in some episodes speaking volumes of Covid-19 pandemic.

“He was fine and we managed to shoot some episodes with him. I pray for his quick recovery and hope he gets urgent medical attention,” she said.

Anyoni’s nephew Leonard Mafukeni on Tuesday said the veteran actor needs medical support from well-wishers.
