Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) has appointed Victor Lungu as the new Chairperson of Civo Service United, replacing Osmani Fatchie who has been heading the club’s executive committee for the past two years.

According to a statement released by the Lilongwe-based club yesterday, OPC roped in George Chande as the club’s Treasurer. He takes over from Leroy Tembo.

Ronald Chiwaula is set to continue working as the club’s general secretary after OPC re- appointed him.

Chiwaula said the appointments complete the composition of a new executive committee to spearhead the club’s operations for the next two years.

“Our sponsor, OPC, has the mandate to appoint office bearers in some positions and that has been the norm. So after conducting executive committee elections recently, we had to go to OPC for amendments and names of office bearers to complete our executive committee,” he said.

Chiwaula said the sponsor had not set any targets for the officials.

“There is nothing like specific targets for us. All we are doing is just working hard so that we win silverware and make OPC happy. Our sponsor is committed to help us in various ways so that we lift cups this season. Our target as executive committee members is to win at least a trophy this season,” he said.

The Civil Servants last won silverware in 2015 when they lifted the defunct Standard Bank Cup after beating Be Forward Wanderers 1-0 at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

The full list of Civil’s executive committee is as follows:

Chairman: Victor Lungu

Vice Chairman: Davie Chirwa

General Secretary: Ronald Chiwaula

Vice General Secretary: Trickson Chiutsi

Treasurer General: George Chande

Vice Treasurer: Macdonald Tembo
