Vigil prayers were held in Lilongwe last Sunday in honour of veteran musician Pastor Isaac Mkukupa who died on August 22 in the United Kingdom.

Mkukupa’s daughter Rudo, who is also a singer, said they were thankful to people for their support during the prayers.

“Your encouragement and love is greatly appreciated,” she said.

Mkukupa is expected to be laid to rest in the UK.

Rudo said they will know by the end of the week when her father will be laid to rest.

Mkukupa has starred for a number of bands including Truetones which used to perform at Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre, The Touch of Class and Living Waters Band.

His relations Wellington and Nasau were also passionate musicians, who used to star for Love Aquarius and Super Kaso, respectively.

Mkukupa was born in Zambia on December 9 1943. His mother hailed from Zimbabwe whereas his father was from Salima District.
