RE-jigged Be Forward Wanderers, donning a new white home kit, extended their 2017 TNM Super League unbeaten run to six games after seeing off stubborn Blantyre United 2-0 at a packed MDC Stadium in Blantyre.

Wanderers, who host deposed leaders Red Lions at Balaka Stadium on Sunday, top the 16-member log table briefly with 16 points, one point ahead of deposed pacesetters Red Lions.

Towering striker Precious Msosa earned a rare start upfront to partner Peter Wadabwa with Jabulani Linje redeployed into an attacking midfield role.

Captain Francis Mlimbika watched proceedings from the terraces after paving way for Ted Sumani while right winger Felix Zulu had to be content with a place on the substitutes’ bench.

Wanderers Coach Yasin Osman’s reshuffle of the starting XI proved effective as Linje, who has a perfect ball control on the turn and sound technique but cannot score, kept supply lines open whereas Msosa gave Captain Allan Tembo-led United defence a torrid afternoon with aerial duels.

Msosa made the difference in the 20th minute, with his back to the goal, flicking the ball past United goalkeeper Christopher Mikuwa.

In the second half, Wanderers sealed maximum points through Yamikani Chester’s 58th minute sharp finish at the near-post angle after being set clear by Joseph Kamwendo’s diagonal ball to the right.

Wanderers survived some nervous moments after United hit the post through Brown Mizeye, only for defender Richard Chipuwa to catch the rebound. United remain second from bottom.
